After travelling the world surfing dreaming of a sustainable life surrounded by beautiful people, offshore waves, sandy beaches, delicious food, breathtaking nature and inspiring wildlife, we arrived in Sri Lanka and never left…
We moved into our eden of relaxation in September 2015 and developed Camp Poe. With the help of our local Sinhala family and friends from home, we set up 8 safari tents, a surf hut, yoga shala and renovated the pre-existing bungalows and atrium on site. We did this with the environment and local community in mind.
Camp Poe was originally named after the poet Edgar Allan Poe, to inspire creativity and freedom of expression. It has later come to mean “People of Earth”, “Protect our Earth”, “Peace on Earth” and recently named by one of our guests: “Place of Enlightenment.”
We first opened in February 2016 to a camp full of friends and family and celebrated living in Sri Lanka. Our days were full of surfing, yoga, art, and music. Over time, news spread about Camp Poe and we welcomed our first guests later that month.
Since then so much has happened here and now we want to share Camp Poe with you! Camp Poe upholds that the best travel experiences are co-created, so we encourage you to get involved with life here as much as possible, whether that may be learning to surf with us, painting some designs around the camp, leading a class in something, or just sharing with us your life and stories!
Looking forward to seeing you soon…
